Little joys

When was the last time you really felt deep joy from an exploration you made? What was the place and how did it make you feel? Was it a whole new journey to a faraway land or nothing out of the ordinary like your own well-known area?
I'm definitely going to remember for much longer one of the recent biking trips I had on my own. It could seem to one that it was nothing special, just a simple biking trip in my mundane area. And yes, that's true. I used to almost hate the little boring village when I lived here as a teenager. There's no place to go, absolutely nothing to do. But… still so much to explore! However, I appreciated it once I lost it for some time while living in big cities. I appreciated the wealth of forests and lovely meadows I used to love going to. I realised how much I missed it living in a big city, how much I missed the greenery, even a plain view of a massive oak tree near my family home or golden fields of wheat. I missed the smell of freshly mowed lawn, I longed for the peace and quiet I could only feel here, in my super simple and boring village, and I realised there are still many undiscovered paths leading me to the unknown. The little journeys here always make me a bit excited. And the greatest joy I have is the connection with nature. Especially, seeing a simple, yet breath-taking view of the sky that surprises me like a child every time. I'm very happy and grateful for the current perspective, so these days I eagerly explore my area.
Surprisingly, it usually gives me much more joy than going on trips somewhere else. For example, today my family and I had a trip to one of Poland's great castles. I love such historical sites, but despite the fact that it was a really beautiful palace and we saw some unusual places (and took many photos), I really didn't enjoy it as much as the biking trip I had done last week. I can still remember how deeply exhilarated I was while biking and seeing the most beautiful sunset I'd ever seen in my whole life! I couldn't help but smile so much. I smiled genuinely to each passer-by on my way! And I stopped every 100 meters to take more and more photos and videos of the astonishing view! But still, it is my memory that holds the best photographs, not my phone. However, that was the final point of the trip. Previously, going the other way I had seen such unspeakably gorgeous views of the sky presenting different shades of whitish and bluish clouds. Then I discovered that the new cycle path leads next to my old primary school, so I was biking in the areas I hadn't seen for over 20 years! What a great surprise it was to me then! It brought so many warm memories. And biking there down the hill with great speed I felt like a child all over again! So free, so filled with immense happiness! What a wonderful feeling that was, my mind was full of endorphins! So little, yet so much! I also felt very intrigued by the new cycle path as I saw it led towards another amazing forest and interesting village where an unusual church is located. I'd never been there before so I definitely felt the great spirit of adventure and the calling to go further and further. But to my surprise, it turned out that the cycle path ends before reaching the forest. It's still being built so I just need to wait a bit to go there again, much further this time!
I just can't wait to continue my trip the same way and experience the excitement and happiness all over again!
