Power can be defined as possession of control, authority or influence over others. Power is more of an attitude or state of mind. It comes from solid interpersonal skills, self-esteem and confidence. I believe every mankind has certain level of desire to own power and control in life.
How can we develop power in our life?
1. Power of Knowledge
We can develop power by enhancing ourselves. We must always equip ourselves. First and foremost, we need to cultivate a lifetime reading habits. Knowledge is the best investment in one’s life. Gaining knowledge is like building the inner strength in ourselves. It helps to boost our confidence and stay determined, especially when we’re facing challenges and obstacles. Growth mindset is where we develop our talents and abilities through a positive belief system and hard work.
2. Power of Language
We need to develop a habit of using positive and energetic language. First, it’s important to store positive vocabulary in mind. Every speaking or action starts with mind-thinking. Thought influences action. Stay away from negative talks. We tend to feel more motivated if we’re trained to use positive language often. That’s the way we generate power. For example, “I can do it! I am powerful!”. Try to practice to speak aloud this type of positive phrase every morning, you’ll feel energetic and confident for the whole day. The more positive words you use, the more you will feel powerful.
3. Power of People
This is similar to language power. Stay away from negative people. Negative people mean toxic people, fake friends, benefit relationship. The influence of these negative people is unimaginable. Your self-esteem and confident will be destroyed little by little unknowingly. There is one quote saying “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. I strongly agree with this quote. So, which type of “average” you want to be? “Average among the best” or “Average among the worst”. The choice is on us.
4. Goal-oriented
Life-goal setting is important in our life. We must know our life direction and know where to go and how to achieve it. When you develop the mindset of asking for what you want in life, you are able to achieve a higher quality of life. People who are goal-oriented are task-driven and motivated by purpose. Power comes naturally if we understand our life goal clearly. We are the master of our life. We are the person who control the direction.
5. Self-recognition
Be yourself. Don’t just simply follow idol or someone famous and thinking you’ll be as successful and powerful as that person. You can only be truly powerful if you are the main character in your life, not the shadow of idol or some success people. Being authentic and be yourself leads to happiness and life satisfaction. Activating and recognizing your personal power start with self-awareness. Once you acknowledge that you actually own that power, you’ll have more confident to do it your way.
In conclusion, build up your strength, follow your heart and gain confidence. The power is the fruit of all your hard work.
